‘Tis the season for the announcement of the 2008 season awards and honors. Being that James Laurinaitis is as great a student in the classroom as he is a football player, this update shouldn’t surprise anyone.

First, James was named to the Big Ten’s academic all-conference team; one of 26 of his teammates. Ohio State led the conference in academic all-conference student athletes for the fall with 80 representing 7 varsity sports.

Earlier today, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) released its All-America team, and James made the list for the 2nd year in a row! Teammate Malcolm Jenkins also made the team.

Now, keep in mind that there are several All-America lists that are released each year. And while James has been an All-American since his sophomore season, this wasn’t the team that gave him that honor in 2006.
